What Is Gospel Illusion?
Scripture speaks strongly against man's involvement in the supernatural (Deut. 18:11) But the "Magic" condemned by scripture, is not the same kind of magic Deacon uses to illustrate and entertain. In each of his programs he emphasizes that he has no supernatural abilities. Everything he does is a trick, illusion, puzzle for the eyes.
Genuine, caring persons, object or question the use of "magic" because of the issue of deception
(I Cor. 6:9, 15:33, Gal. 6:7)
Deception which has the intent to hurt or cause malice must be avoided. But not all deceptions are created with the goal of destruction. For example:
The child laying awake because he sees someone standing in the dark corner, is deceived by the moonlit shadows. There is no danger facing him, only his unknown fears.
A photograph showing a person to be only several inches tall or wide.
The use of makeup to hide imperfections or to highlight physical features is a use of deception.
Magic does involve deception. But if I tell you upfront that I am going to deceive or trick you, then there is no malice or intent to harm you.

Magic Defined
In today's vocabulary, certain words can have more than one meaning. Magic is one of those words. According to Webster's dictionary, Magic is:
The use of charms, spells, and rituals in seeking or pretending to cause or control events, sorcery; witchcraft.
The practice of the above definition is condemned by God in the Scriptures and must be avoided.
The art or performing skill of producing baffling effects or illusions by sleight of hand, concealed apparatus, etc.
Deacon's Wonderful World employs the use of illusion as a visual aid to entertain and share the Gospel Message according to this second definition.
